Meito Church

On Sunday, March 1st, we were blessed at our English worship service at Meito Christ International Church.  We had a guest pastor from South Carolina, Rev. Robert T. Byrne preach.  Pastor Byrne is the first “exchange pastor” from the South Carolina Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to serve the JELC or Japanese Evangelical Lutheran Church.  He and his spouse, Chris are on exchange for six months (October 1, 2008 – March 31, 2009) and are now visiting the “Tokai” district (one of five districts of the JELC) and thankfully, I was able to have him preach on Sunday, March 1st.  Rev. Byrne serves as pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Aiken, South Carolina.

   It was really nice to hear him speak and to meet and talk with him and his wife, Chris. It’s good for Meito Church to occasionally have guest speakers for our English language service and especially nice when it’s someone like Pastor Byrne.

   Enjoyed the service immensely. Good luck on the rest of your journey here in Japan, Pastor Byrne. Please stay in touch!
