Welcome to Japan! We have students at Meito, but mostly 15 years and younger.

As our church and worship is for expats and others who want to worship in English. We support the Japanese churches and missions to non Christians.

My work for example is with young children and I am a missionary with the Lutheran Church. Others who attend support various Japanese churches and missions.

I would encourage you when you come to Japan to work with a Japanese church in their work.

Yes, Bongo John is attending. We are all very thankful for the band. Presently the band is made up of Allen, Jimmy and Yusaku. With others, like Bongo who come in and help out. When were you in Nagoya? I have been here at MCIC since August of 2006.

Allen did a good job, only slight clarifications needed.
1. During the summer attendance falls to less than twenty, but 30 – 50 is good range when children are added.
2. The Japanese congregation, Nagoya-Kibo Lutheran Church that owns the building has Japanese worship services and Bible study on Thursdays and Fridays in the mornings, but not every week. If you want the schedule I can send it to you.
3. Just like Allen said, people attend Japanese services in the morning. For example, I am a missionary serving with the Japan Evangelical Lutheran Church in Japan and have responsibilities and attend Japanese worship services on Sunday mornings and afternoons. Others belong to and are members of other Japanese churches.
4. Exactly.
5. Two childrens’ SS. One with ages from 4/5 – 5thr grade. One Youth with ages from 11- 14/15. We have occassional adult class at the same time when a leader is available.
6. Exactly. We do not “simplify” our English worship to reach out to non English speakers. So nearly all are non-Japanese or Japanese who have lived outside of Japan for a time.

p.s. You may be intersted to know that on the 25th of Nov. we will have a shortened worship from 5:00 – 5:30 and then a Thanksgiving Potluck at 5:45 with Turkey. We are providing the turkey, you are welcome to attend.

Good questions, I’ll give it a shot

1. Attendance varies for, well, various reasons, but usually between 30 and 50, with sometimes more.
2. ? Pastor C might need to take that one.
3. Service is only on Sunday evenings because the pastor sometimes has other duties at the Japanese churches, many members attend other churches for morning worship, and formerly, a Japanese congregation and language service was held at Meito Church in the mornings. (that’s since been consolidated into another sister church’s service though.
4. Everything’s in English, services, Sunday school
5. All ages, pretty much. There are currently two groups, a young group with children from preschool to I think early elementary, and a young adult class.
6. Foreign members? as in ex-pats? The majority of those who attend are ex-pats though there are Japanese spouses, children, and entire families and friends attending.
7. As far as I know, and hey, I’m just the music director-slash-website admin, there are now very rarely services in Japanese at Meito church. However, special services are sometimes held in Japanese, as well as the occasional bi-lingual service.

Hope that helps you some. If I made things more muddy, just ask and I’ll try to muddle it up some more. Also, Pastor C might be able to give you some more information when he sees this.

Best I can say is come join us for a couple of Sundays and see for yourself.

As to it being a ‘home page’ I’m not sure that’s necessary as long as we have the information available here in the sidebars and easy navigation to it.

We could put a ‘sticky’ note at the top of the page with some of that information.
