“I’ll Fly Away” rehearsals

Lately we’ve been spending some time before regular music rehearsals preparing for a recording of a bluegrass gospel cd we are recording. I’ve shot a couple of simple videos so far of the practices and recording sessions and hope to post a few of them as we go so you can follow along in the process.
As you can see from the video posted below, we still need some practice

This is just to give you an idea of what we’re working on. Yoshi (the bassist) is away in Australia, so we’re trying to coordinate schedules so we can get all of the parts recorded. This video was made on a simple, digital camera using only the input microphone from the camera so the audio quality leaves a little to be desired, but it should give you a taste of what the final recordings will be like.

It’s been a lot of work, more to come, but we’re all enjoying the process a lot, and looking forward to the finished recordings.

The CD will be made available at the church and we’re also planning to make it available to order online. Proceeds will go to the church fund.

Kids’ Song – I’m Just a Child

This is a song from the Baptist Hymnal actually, that I recently discovered while looking for some songs to add for the children’s part of the English language church service at Meito Church.

It’s a little deceptive looking in the hymnal, but it’s a really sweet, interesting, and fun melody with a wonderful little message for kids, or well, pretty much anyone

We’ve done the song a few times now, and the kids are getting to know and like it a lot. I’ve actually had it requested a number of times already.

In all the work I do for the music at Meito, the kids’ song is actually usually one of the parts I stress about and struggle with the most. However, it’s a lot of fun to do, and I really enjoy them enjoying it.

Birth of the King – English Christmas Service at Meito Church

Here’s a video I made of a Christmas song that I wrote some time ago called “The Birth of the King” and have played here a few times. During the service the song was used for the Communion service, making the audio and video from the service a bit too busy to use here. So I made a quick, simple version and video so people can hear the song more clearly (um, maybe not such a good thing

We should have a video once Pastor C gets it edited of the congregation singing “Silent Night” during the Candle Service that was pretty interesting and moving experience.
